Types of future tense




In this post we will discuss Future Tense. Present and past tenses were discussed earlier.


What is future tense?
Answer: Future tense means that an action will take place in the future.

The future tense has four parts:

1. Future Indefinite Tense
2. Future Continuous Tense
3. Future Perfect Tense
4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense

1. Future Indefinite Tense: It is called Future Indefinite Tense if it means that an action will be completed in the future.
Example: 1. I will do the work
2. He will play cricket.

2. Future Continuous Tense: Future Continuous Tense means that an action will continue in the future.

Example: 1. I will be playing cricket.
2. They will be waiting there.

Future Perfect Tense: Between two actions in the future, the action that will be completed earlier is in the Future Perfect Tense and the action that will be completed later is in the Present Indefinite Tense.

Example: 1. I shall have  done the work before I go to college.

2. I shall go to college after I shall have played cricket.

Future Perfect Continuous Tense:
Future Perfect Continuous Tense means that an action will continue until another action in the future.

Example: 1.we shall have been playing cricket for an hour.

2. you will have been trying until you succeed.
